It’s been a while since my “San Juan Sunset“ cover on Youtube.
I made that video, just because I was happy of having a Rhodes piano in my studio. I didn’t expect it to become the most viewed video on my channel!
Vocal covers generally performs better than intrumental ones….but this was not the case, and I’m really happy of it. I’m a pianist, singing is a secondary role for me.
So, again Eumir Deodato! My favorite Rhodes artist!
This song is called “Spirit of Summer” and I personally consider it one of the most beautiful compositions ever made for this instrument. That’s why I wanted to play it with just my Rhodes.
Just me, this song and its magical sound. 😉

Ben ritrovato Andrea.
Mi (anzi, ci) hai deliziato di un brano eseguito con il magico suono del Rhodes.
L'ho trovato più accattivante da 2:35 in poi.
Magari se riuscissi a rieseguirlo con la semplice presenza di una batteria suonata con le spazzole e di un contrabbasso (o di un basso elettrico senza tasti)...!!!
Comunque, complimenti come sempre per come ti immedesimi nelle tue interpretazioni/esecuzioni.
Eseguire con il Rhodes è come ondeggiare una bacchetta magica!

Ciao Giuseppe, quanto tempo!
Grazie, sono contento ti sia piaciuto anche questo brano. Si, sono consapevole del fatto che con l'aggiunta di batteria e basso sarebbe aumentato l'apprezzamento per questa esecuzione. Nell'assolo infatti, come hai notato, l'ho resa un po' più incisiva proprio per questo.
Ma ho voluto provare a fare un brano "piano solo" con il Rhodes, per far appunto immergere completamente l'ascoltatore nell'ondeggiare di questa bacchetta magica. :-)
Tra l'altro ho voluto eseguirla in modo libero, con molti rallentati, respiri e cambi di velocità....avrei avuto difficoltà a renderla così in trio.
Nei prossimi video, ci saranno arrangiamenti più completi, simili ai precedenti.

Very beautiful, Andrea. Evokes a time that I visiited the hills across the Golden Gate Bridge in spring to find a few small quiet lanes along which jasmine grew. My home, at the time, was in Iowa, where the snow was melting and dirty and when streets were unfit for walking. There was new hope in that jasmine. I accepted a job that day in a much more beautiful place,

That's beautiful as well, David. When we allow ourselves to listen to our deep needs and emotions, beautiful things finally happen in our lives.
Jasmine used to grow a lot in my parents' garden when I was a child....I know the feeling....always loved that smell. Thanks for sharing. :-)
