Since when I was 15, I always did a lot of vocal training. And I say A LOT.
To me, vocals is one, if not the most difficult instrument to master. Lot of emotions to struggle with. Technique to understand, learn and master. Then forget everything you learned, and start singing for real….it takes a lot of time and awareness of what you’re really aiming at, as an artist.
Well, Stevie was for me the one who made me understand how to balance all of that, and make me like singing in the first place. (I actually never liked it at all before, you know? lol)
That’s why today’s cover is about one of his songs. One that I always used to go back and sing during those years, to keep track of my progress. It’s such a tough song to sing, expecially the way he performed it back then.
Everything’s been recorded by me, as usual, except the bass. This time I wanted to ask someone else to record it…..but it’s always part of my family. Always Ocello. It’s my father Massimo! 😉
It’s from “Innervisions” (’73) and it’s called “All in love is fair” :
